Jewelry does not decorate a face.
It engages in a dialogue with it.
Like a perfectly tailored suit or a well-chosen pair of glasses, a necklace or earring can alter the balance of a face in seconds. Lengthen. Soften. Structure. Brighten.
Yet, one must know what one is doing.
Step 1 - Learn to see your own face: The A-B-C-D Method (simple, precise, reliable)
1) Take a head-on photo :

- Face looking straight ahead, camera at eye level
-
Hair tied back or away from the face
-
Neutral expression, no forced smile
-
Natural light if possible, without harsh shadows
- No filters, no angles
2) Measure directly on the photo (using a "Ruler", "Markup", or any measurement app)
Measure in centimeters, or in identical units (the exact value doesn't matter, we are primarily comparing proportions):
- A: from the top of the forehead (hairline) to the bottom of the chin, passing through the center.
- B: width of the forehead, from one side to the other, at the widest point (often above the eyebrows).
- C: width of the cheekbones, from one prominent point to the other.
- D: width of the jawline, from one side to the other.
3) Compare your measurements
Here are the benchmarks (practical, not dogmatic):
- Round face: B ≈ C ≈ D and A close to C (little perceived length).
- Oval face: A ≈ 1.5 × C, and D narrower than B/C.
- Square face: B ≈ C ≈ D, and A close to C (marked angles).
- Rectangle face: B ≈ C ≈ D, and A significantly larger than C (often +2 cm or more).
- Oblong face: impression of length, A dominant, with B/C/D fairly close.
- Diamond face: C is the largest, then D, and B is the smallest (dominant cheekbones).
- Triangle face (point upward): D ≥ C and D > B (dominant jawline).
- Heart face (inverted triangle): B and C > D, often B ≈ C (dominant forehead, pointed chin).
Once your shape is identified, the jewelry ceases to be decorative. It becomes intentional.
Step 2 – Choose your jewelry according to your face shape
What enhances your features without disguising you
Round face: Lengthen with elegance
Intention: lengthen, stretch, refine.
Vertical lines, long necklaces, slim pendants.
Iconic inspiration: the long, fluid lines often seen on ambassadors for houses like Dior, where the necklace becomes the central axis of the face.
At Maison Soleyah:
- Asymmetric marine chain necklace
- Long marine chain necklace
- Custom compositions with elongated pendants
Avoid tight chokers that enclose the line.
Oval face: Controlled freedom
Everything works, provided it is coherent.
Iconic inspiration: the masterfully layered looks seen during Fashion Weeks, where several necklaces engage without competing.
At Maison Soleyah:
Here, jewelry becomes a signature.
Square face: soften without erasing
Curves, ovals, supple lines.
Inspiration: the most timeless Chanel silhouettes, where roundness tempers the structure.
At Maison Soleyah:
Avoid highly geometric pendants.
Rectangle / oblong face: Structure the center
Chokers, layering, controlled volume.
Inspiration: bolder compositions seen on it-girls, where the jewelry breaks the verticality.
At Maison Soleyah:
- Heart earrings
- Lila necklace
- Multi-charm composition
Heart face: Balance with softness
Wider forehead, narrower chin.
The goal is not to correct, but to rebalance the line with subtlety.
Chokers and short necklaces draw the eye back to the neck.
Rounded or slightly dropping pendants soften the transition toward the chin.
Inspiration: the controlled restraint of contemporary royal silhouettes, where simplicity becomes authority.
At Maison Soleyah:
Simply avoid overly angular or triangular pendants, which accentuate the tip of the chin.
Here, delicacy is a strategy.
Diamond face: Refine the line
Prominent cheekbones, narrower forehead and jaw.
It is about harmonizing without erasing the structure.
Fine necklaces, rounded lines, and well-proportioned pieces add continuity.
Accumulation must remain controlled.
Inspiration: appearances on the Cannes steps, where precision always triumphs over excess.
At Maison Soleyah:
Avoid overly voluminous earrings near the cheekbones, which would accentuate the already dominant width.
Here, moderation is elegance.
Triangle face: Rebalance with precision
Wider jaw, narrower forehead.
Here, the objective is clear: draw the eye toward the top of the face and visually lighten the base.
Short, fine necklaces recenter attention near the neck, without adding weight to the bottom of the face.
Rounded earrings, slightly present but well-proportioned, restore balance to the upper part.
Inspiration: impeccably structured silhouettes seen on European red carpets, where everything depends on the mastery of proportions.
At Maison Soleyah:
Avoid long, heavy necklaces that draw the gaze even further downward.
Here, it is not about erasing the structure.
It is about guiding it.
Bonus tips: have fun with your jewelry
The "rules" are there to guide you. Not to box you in.
Your style remains more important than your morphology.
-
Layer, if it feels like you.
-
Mix, if it suits you.
-
Most importantly, compose with intention.
The Maison Soleyah Charm Bar was designed for this: to create a line that respects your proportions while telling your story.
