Jewelry doesn't just decorate a face.
It interacts with it.
Like a perfectly tailored suit or a well-chosen pair of glasses, a necklace or earring can alter the balance of a face in seconds. Elongate. Soften. Structure. Brighten.
But you need to know what you're doing.
Step 1 - Learn to see your own face: The A-B-C-D method (simple, precise, reliable)
1) Take a frontal photo:

- Face straight, camera at eye level
-
Hair tied back or away from the face
-
Neutral expression, no forced smile
-
Natural light if possible, no harsh shadows
- No filter, no angles
2) Measure directly on the photo (with “Ruler”, “Annotate” or any measuring app)
Measure in centimeters, or in identical units (the exact value doesn't matter, we mainly compare proportions):
- A: from the top of the forehead (hairline) to the bottom of the chin, passing through the center.
- B: width of the forehead, from side to side, at its widest point (often above the eyebrows).
- C: width of the cheekbones, from one prominent point to the other.
- D: width of the jawline, from side to side.
3) Compare your measurements
Here are the guidelines (practical, not dogmatic):
- Round face: B ≈ C ≈ D and A close to C (little perceived length).
- Oval face: A ≈ 1.5 × C, and D narrower than B/C.
- Square face: B ≈ C ≈ D, and A close to C (marked angles).
- Rectangular face: B ≈ C ≈ D, and A significantly larger than C (often +2 cm or more).
- Oblong face: impression of length, A dominant, with B/C/D fairly close.
- Diamond face: C is the largest, then D, and B is the smallest (dominant cheekbones).
- Triangle face (point up): D ≥ C and D > B (dominant jaw).
- Heart face (inverted triangle): B and C > D, often B ≈ C (dominant forehead, thin chin).
Once your shape is identified, jewelry ceases to be decorative. It becomes intention.
Step 2 – Choose your jewelry according to your face shape
What enhances your features, without disguising you
Round face: Elongate with elegance
Intention: lengthen, stretch, refine.
Vertical lines, sautoir necklaces, delicate pendants.
Iconic inspiration: the long, flowing lines often seen on certain house ambassadors like Dior, where the necklace becomes the central axis of the face.
At Maison Soleyah:
- Asymmetrical marine mesh necklace
- Marine mesh sautoir necklace
- Custom compositions with slender pendants
Avoid tight chokers that enclose the neckline.
Oval face: Controlled freedom
Everything works, provided it's consistent.
Iconic inspiration: the mastered layering seen during Fashion Weeks, where several necklaces interact without competing.
At Maison Soleyah:
Here, jewelry becomes a signature.
Square face: soften without erasing
Curves, ovals, soft lines.
Inspiration: the most timeless Chanel silhouettes, where roundness tempers structure.
At Maison Soleyah:
Avoid very geometric pendants.
Rectangular / oblong face: Structure the center
Chokers, layering, controlled volume.
Inspiration: the bolder compositions seen on certain IT girls, where jewelry breaks up verticality.
At Maison Soleyah:
- Heart earrings
- Lila necklace
- Multi-charm composition
Heart-shaped face: Balance with softness
Wider forehead, narrower chin.
The goal is not to correct, but to subtly rebalance the line.
Chokers and short necklaces refocus attention on the neck.
Rounded or slightly dangling pendants soften the transition to the chin.
Inspiration: the controlled restraint of contemporary royal silhouettes, where simplicity becomes authority.
At Maison Soleyah:
We simply avoid overly angular or triangular pendants, which accentuate the chin's point.
Here, delicacy is a strategy.
Diamond face: Refine the line
Prominent cheekbones, narrower forehead and jaw.
The aim is to harmonize without erasing the structure.
Delicate necklaces, rounded lines, well-proportioned pieces provide continuity.
Layering should remain controlled.
Inspiration: certain appearances on the Cannes red carpet, where precision always triumphs over excess.
At Maison Soleyah:
Avoid overly voluminous earrings at the cheekbones, which would accentuate the already dominant width.
Here, restraint is elegance.
Triangle face: Rebalance with precision
Wider jaw, narrower forehead.
Here, the goal is clear: draw attention to the upper face and visually lighten the base.
Short, delicate necklaces refocus attention near the neck, without adding weight to the lower face.
Rounded earrings, subtly present but well-proportioned, restore balance to the upper part.
Inspiration: certain impeccably structured silhouettes seen on European red carpets, where everything hinges on mastering proportions.
At Maison Soleyah:
Avoid very heavy long necklaces that draw even more attention downwards.
Here, it's not about erasing the structure.
It's about guiding it.
Bonus tips: have fun with your jewelry
"Rules" are there to guide. Not to confine you.
Your style is more important than your morphology.
-
Layer, if it suits you.
-
Mix, if it works for you.
-
Most importantly, compose with intention.
The Maison Soleyah Charm Bar was designed for this: to create a line that respects your proportions, while telling your story.
